I recently attended the BFM Enterprise Takeaway 2017 which was focused on the Food & Beverage industry in Malaysia. There was a very interesting discussion about how to get the best produce from suppliers. One of the chefs explained that he tends to work with farmers that are firstly passionate about what they grow. He will explain to the farmers just how important their produce is by showing them what happens in the kitchen, and what the final dish looks like. The farmers will feel an appreciation for what they grow and will naturally hand over the best of their produce. I found this little anecdote very interesting because it doesn't just apply to the F&B industry; it applies to many other areas of life in fact. A little bit of genuine appreciation can sometimes go a very long way.
